Community Clinician Spotlight and Networking Events

We are incredibly excited to launch our Community Clinician Spotlight & Networking events. We hope these events will be special for a number of reasons-- to showcase and celebrate the expertise of clinicians in our community, to spend time networking and connecting, and to support the Diversity and Inclusion Fellowship. The registration of $20 will go directly into the Fellowship fund to allow us to support more diversity in our therapists and in bringing EFT to populations that have been marginalized.

If you are a local clinician interested in sharing your experience and expertise related to EFT (or EFIT or EFFT), please email Sarah at sarah@wbceft.com. The format (i.e. powerpoint presentation, TEDish type talk, experiential exercises, etc) for sharing is flexible and we encourage creativity!

Our Panelists

  • Rebecca Clark, LMFT

Rebecca Clark, LMFT, an early adopter of EFT, became Maine’s first ICEEFT-certified therapist and clinical EFT supervisor. With over 20 years of experience as a marriage and family therapist, she uses attachment-based EFT therapy to help couples, individuals, and families heal bonds and build deeper connections.

Rebecca is passionate about offering EFT Intensives for couples (two or three day) in beautiful mid-coast Maine. She has also facilitated HMT and C4C workshops, EFT webinars, and provides clinical supervision for EFT therapists one-on-one and in small zoom groups. Locally, she co-founded and co-directs EFTMaine to foster professional community and respond to great need for couple’s therapy.

Outside of her professional life, Rebecca's personal experiences as a wife, mother, person of faith, and her diverse cross-cultural exchanges deeply inform her work, fostering profound connections with clients and therapists on their EFT journey.

  • Nancy Knudsen, LMFT

Nancy Knudsen, LMFT, Certified EFT Therapist and Supervisor and AAMFT Approved Supervisor, is the Director of the Couple and Family Institute of New England in Northampton, MA where she sees couples for intensive retreats, supervises clinicians, offers training to professionals, and has led numerous Hold Me Tight® programs for couples. She, along with Michael Moran, developed the Hold Me Tight®, Hold Me Just Right Program, a sequel to Hold Me Tight® tailored to couples wanting to address sexuality and intimacy. Together they created the Hold Me Tight®, Hold Me Just Right Facilitator Guide and accompanying video series, soon to be available on the ICEEFT website.

Nancy has been a licensed marriage and family therapist for 40 years. Her interest in the intensive model for treating couples developed over time as an alternative to weekly couples therapy for those deeply stuck in patterns that seemed intractable. Helping couples at the "11th hour" get traction and experience a breakthrough in a short amount of time can infuse hope just when partners might be ready to give up.

  • Michele Louviere, LMFT

Michele Louviere is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 30 years of counseling experience.Michele has extensive training in specialized evidence-based trauma recovery models for children, adolescents, and adults. She primarily provides counseling for adults who have been traumatized in various life stages, including man-made and natural disasters. She uses Story-Informed Trauma Counseling (SITT) with individuals. She also works with couples to help heal their relational attachment wounds, creating safe and intimate connections using Emotionally Focused Therapy, which is the most effective evidence-based therapy model for relational healing.

Michele is a Certified EFT Therapist and Supervisor, and she currently serves as the Louisiana Community for EFT Board President. Michele's latest adventure has been doing EFT Intensives with couples who are starting their EFT therapy or working through blocks or attachment injuries. Michele integrates trauma tools, such as sand tray therapy, within her EFT intensives and has seen profound healing.

If you would like to contact Michele for counseling, training, supervision, or intensives, then please email her at Michele@refuge182.com.

  • Mark Maxwell, PsyD, LMFT

Dr. Mark Maxwell is the Executive Director of Conexa, and non-profit focused on community transformation through mental and relational health. He also is the director of Pacifica Group Counseling and Wellness in San Diego as well as a part time adjunct at San Diego State University. He lives and operates primarily out of San Diego and Sacramento, California.

Mark started in the film and television industry, getting his BA in Screenwriting at Loyola Marymount University (Go Lions!) which led him to psychology and human dynamics in order to write good characters. He eventually heeded the call to therapy when he moved to Louisiana to study mental health counseling at LSU (Geaux Tigers!). But he could not resist the call of systems theory and relationships, eventually returning home to California to get his doctorate in couple and family therapy at Alliant International University (Go…?). It was here he discovered the two game changers that influence his work today: Attachment theory and Liberation Psychology. Attachment theory led him to training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, working under Dr. Lisa Palmer Olsen. Liberation Psychology was gifted to him through an Immersion program to Mexico City with Dr. Jason Platt. Mark is an integrationalist at heart and exploring the intersections of these theories along with spirituality, theology, and the science of interpersonal neurobiology to inform his work and desire to bring healing and thriving to people in community is his primary focus today.

What’s a Dig in??

Each participant will share a stuck/challenging spot you have with couples with Sarah & Angela before the dig in (bonus if you have video to share!). We'll pull together 2-3 challenges for the group to focus on when we come together. Based on this stuck/challenging spot we'll spend time "digging in" to each partner's position and the therapist's position (self of therapist work).

Our aim is to stretch ourselves, brainstorm, role play, test interventions, and try out new words. Practice and process. Practice and process. Our aim is to keep the "dig in" dynamic, energetic, and thought provoking!
